Skin History:
I've struggled with acne throughout adolescence, my twenties and now my thirties.  I saw a dermatologist when I was in high school, college and grad school. I've always had oily and acne prone skin and I've tried EVERYTHING to get my skin to clear up...nothing helped. My mom took me to a dermatologist starting when I was in high school, I think... I was desperate for anything that would clear my skin but any fix I found at a dermatologist was only temporary and they almost always had awful side effects.

Acne has been a struggle for far too long... since I was 12 or 13, which for me now means over half my life has been plagued with acne struggles. In my opinion, a day with a breakout is a day too long and it's so frustrating to suffer from breakouts CONSTANTLY.

"It was a stressful time in my life and I wanted to do anything to help me relieve the stress that acne prone skin brings with it..."

I tried all sorts of face washes and creams... harsh cleansers, and things that stained my pillowcases and dried my skin out horribly. I recall Tetracycline and Benzoyl Peroxide being prescribed. I also was ultimately prescribed Accutane in graduate school for my cystic acne, which in hindsight, I just have to shake my head at. I know a lot of people have used it and been happy with it but it was SUCH a hard drug for my system, required extensive safety measures since it's so so dangerous to be on in case you'd become pregnant while taking it, and dried out my lips and hair so severely I had to buy specially medicated lip balm to keep my lips somewhat comfortable. It was a stressful time in my life and I wanted to do anything to help me relieve the stress that acne prone skin brings with it so I spent about a year on the Accutane.

First Urban Oreganics Experience:
I had originally tried the UO Deodorant a couple of years ago and that was the gateway for me to venture into all things UO. The whole experience from shopping the website to receiving the package (which is seriously like opening a present) to using the luxe product is a total treat. As a mom to (soon to be!) three children it's nice to experience these extra little touches.

The Switch:
Urban Oreganics has been a lifesaver for my skin. During my first two pregnancies my skin actually cleared and was beautiful, but I'm currently expecting my third child and my skin has been a nightmare. I've found the Bare Cleansing Grains + Facial Cream help manage my skin and keep it looking SO MUCH better... Once I was consistent with the grains and the cream I noticed my skin cleared and looked noticeably more even each morning. I'm also currently crushing hard on the Blue Lavender Facial Mask [seasonal item]... my face is always so happy when I use this mask!

I also started using the UO Brush Cleaner and I’m telling you... game. changer. It’s super simple to use, the brushes get CLEAN, and I think it’s honestly been one of the contributing factors to my clearer skin.

"Would you recommend UO to someone experiencing the same issues?"
100%. The ingredients are clean, approach is minimalist but efficient, it's an easy routine to follow, and it feels like a treat for your skin... plus, I saw results so quickly - what more can you ask for when you're struggling with oily and acne prone skin?

I've always found Emily to be so helpful in suggesting different products to me... she is so knowledgeable about her product... once you start listening to her, you'll be amazed. I was!  I'm forever grateful to Urban Oreganics for making clean products I can use whether I'm nursing, pregnant, or just being a mama taking a moment alone to take care of her skin.
